Carrot oil: it all starts with the story of the carrot

Carrots are one of the most widely consumed vegetables in France, and more widely in Europe. 1 in 5 vegetables purchased is a carrot, that's saying a lot! We grow them in our gardens, and you can always find them in the shops. But did you know that the ancestor of the carrot was born thousands of miles away ?

In fact, this herbaceous plant from the Apiaceae family originated in what is now Afghanistan. Historical records show that the carrot has certainly been cultivated for thousands of years !

The Greeks and Romans believed that carrots were good for the health of the eyes. In particular, to improve vision. And today, its benefits have been widely extended.

Truly considered to be an "alicament", this root vegetable is packed with vitamins A and C. But we quickly realised that it could also be used in cosmetics. Carrot oil is used in many cosmetic products. It's particularly appreciated for its colouring properties, which give a luminous, sun-kissed complexion! Find out more in the rest of this article..

"Eating carrots makes you loveable and gives you a pink bottom" Who hasn't heard that saying as a child? Bad memories for some, we know! But don't panic, we're not talking about drinking this oil. This is cosmetic quality oil.

In our natural online shop, you will find 2 types of carrot oil:

- HEMANI Organic Carrot Oil, 30 mL

To be more precise, carrot oil is an oily macerate of carrot. This means, like garlic oil, that our vegetable is macerated for a long time in a neutral oil. Sunflower oil, for example. This method of production extracts all the nutrients, vitamins and other active ingredients from our Daucus carota.

This oil is bright orange in colour, immediately reminiscent of our vegetable. As for its smell, it's vegetal and only slightly acidic. It's very pleasant because, although it's very oily, carrot oil penetrates the skin quite quickly. Without leaving a greasy film.
